Through the AFA program, Mercy Corps and partners developed digital platforms to enable smallholder farmers to easily access a bundle of services including financial services, inputs, markets, new services, and learning.
To drive uptake and usage of the platforms in various countries, the program blended digital products with human touchpoints.
Mercy Corps argues that organizations working closely with smallholder farmers need to adopt this approach as the current ongoing pandemic has severed direct access to farmers and amplified the need for agent touchpoints and digital tools.
