In Benin, the introduction of PAYG led to increased mobile network operators subscriber activity according to a study by the GSMA, shedding light on the relationship between PAYG solar adoption and mobile financial services.
The study found that the joint efforts between the mobile operators and PAYG solar companies led to an increase in transactions, new users, reactivation of dormant accounts and increased revenues for mobile network operators.
While the study was done in five African countries, this blog shares results from mainly Benin.
